Hey, if you are right then that is something to crow about, but judging from past experiences we will look at the blue-ray player in a year as junk, leaving you with a next-gen conosle system that the only improvement over it's predecessor is better graphics.
Though you did bring up a great point with Blue-ray being Sony's own propriatary stuff. Assuming, of course Blue-ray does dominate the market as the next step in home media and doesn't become the next Beta/Laserdisc.
You'd think Sony would learn from their mistake of the past, I don't think they're going to make the same mistake twice. The BluRay player in the PS3 won't have the same problems as the DVD player in the PS2. Remember, BluRay is SONY's technology. They make it and manipulate it any way they like. Like Sony's CEO said, Sony has all the resources in its house. I think they'll have a strong foothold on the BluRay player to make sure it won't have the issues the DVD player in the PS2 had
