Last week a man in Dallas killed himself, and in his goodbye letter he said he wanted Obama to take care of his family for him.

The '100 years' comment is a bit out of context. McCain didn't mean we'd be conducting combat operations for 100 years, he was just showing his support for an ally (Iraq) and was describing a situation like Korea where we've had boots on the ground for 50+ years.

Yes that is what McCain kinda meant but was twisted by most of the media to mean something else and I was referring to their meaning.

Myself its time to pull our troops out of Japan, Korea, Germany, Iraq, Afghanistan etc. In essence it is time to pull them back to American soil where they belong. We cannot be the policeman of the world, we can't afford it.

Prior to the Spanish-American war, the United States army and navy disbanded practically at the end of every war. The Founding Fathers saw the dangers in a permanent military, as it can be misused by a government to subject the people much as they were subjected to King George III prior to the Revolution.

We need the Supreme Court to rule that the law allowing the President to deploy troops on foreign soil without Congressional approval is unconstitutional. Congress passed the law just before the Korea War so that they wouldn't have to actually do their constitutional duty and pass declarations of war. So instead they strengthened the power of the executive branch in ways the founding fathers never intended. (Much like the power they've given to the Federal Reserve Bank where they moved their constitutional duty to oversee the money of the nation to a fairly private enterprise.).

You could cut the defense budget in half if we only defended the United States.....

It's a tough period of time to be president in no matter who would've won, financial crisis amongst other things...
