I'm still reading this, but wanted to share.

I've suggested to my sister that she name her little girl to be - Manchester. She's not sure about it but she's considering. What do you think?
Clever. Like being named Pittsburg or Schenectady. Kid'll grow up to be beaten to death by Liverpool fans[/b]

when i read this one i saw in my minds eye that scene in Eurotriip when they get to france and the football thugs chase that frog football shirt guy lol

Made me think of our sillywalkers and their rantings of Euro football.

I have always gotten a kick out of the moron celebrity (Can't remember who as I do not believe celebrities are the gods of our time) who named her daughter Apple, due to it's significance in the bible :D.

I too think its funny that parents take their own "creatvity" and put it towards their kid's names. I know I want to, but would never do anything too extreme. I do like Miken, made it on accident when naming myself in Final Fantasy, was origionally just planning on making it Mike and hit the n key and it worked. So if I had a kid I think that is as crazy as I would go. My girlfriends best friend is having a kid and thought of the name Skyler (SP? just use phenetics to get how it sounds). If I had a kid I would be real tempted to give him a bad ass name like Thor or Ramses, but I'm sure that would end up haunting him.

Huh, I didn't know it was. It was going to be a girl's name, and she is having a boy so it wont be named Skyler.

Frank Zappa named his kids Moonunit ( girl) and Dweezle ( boy)

I think this guy wins hands down for the stupid kid name contest.

Frank Zappa is a musician... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frank_Zappa

----
from wikipedia

Zappa was married twice, once to Kay Sherman (1959?1964; no children), and then to Gail (Sloatman) Zappa, with whom he remained until his death. They have four children: Moon Unit, Dweezil (born Ian Donald Calvin Euclid Zappa, (the names of his band members) because the hospital refused to put Dweezil on the birth certificate; Dweezil later legally changed his name to "Dweezil") ("Dweezil" is also the name Frank had given to one of Gail's toes), Ahmet Emuukha Rodan, and Diva Muffin. As a guest on The Tonight Show, chatting with guest-host Jay Leno, Zappa was asked why he had given his children such unusual names. Zappa answered, in a casual tone of voice, "Because I wanted to!" Zappa once said in an interview that if their names ever gave them problems, it would be because of the last name.
