And, The TRANSFORMERS Appearing In The Film Are...

Yeah, my friend just responded. The transformers we know and love is an American cartoon based on a three part manga that came up in Japan in 1968. Everyone just knows it by the television series that aired in 1984, and then the movie in 1986.

Never heard of that. Everything I have ever read say that the Transformers toy line started from a combination of the 1983 Microman line and the 1980 Diaclone line. And that the basic plotline of the cartoon came from the Marvel comics.

Same thing that a kid that grew up with pokemon will tell ya in 10 or 20 years from now ;)

Not really, some cartoons survive the test of time and are re-watchable now. Transformers is one of them, Voltron on the other hand is not (well, unless you are really, really drunk). Just because the cartoon came out in our childhood doesn't mean it would still be loved if watched now. Same thing goes with cartoons out currently, very few will be even remotely watchable 20 years from now.

For example, of the saturday cartoons from 20 years ago, which ones would be watchable now? Dungeon and Dragons (yes) or Bionic Six (hell no). Both were loved when they first aired, but D&D could be aired now and would get a loyal viewership.

Degrees of quality exist in cartoons, and those marks are exemplified 20 years down the road.

QFE...Pokemon really doesn't make any sense and it'll be one of those shows that 10-20 years from now people who watched that show will never admit to. Another reason it won't survive is all the take offs it produced like Yu-Gi-Oh, Digimon, Monster Rancher, and what not (yes saturday mornings with a hangover back in college, you'd watch anything).

Really the only copycat that Transformers had was Go-Bots and well, that show just sucked.

Those do suck. The really good anime are rarely shown here.

:o

Now I must find you links...Bionic Six will be hard to find, but D&D was an absolute classic...fuck I think it is still being broadcast in syndication on one of the cable channels...hold on (looking for links):

Dungeon and Dragons

(remember kids, don't fuck with Tiamat).

As for Bionic Six there isn't nearly as much info available about this show...cause like I said it did not survive the test of time, though the theme song is classic.

giant metal mullet! lmao

Although I think megatron deserves credit, I mean... he blew up lookout mountain. Like. A mountan. :o
