I wear jeans and a shirt

But I tend to agree with those saying that lobbyists and other people with money rule the country.

Well, I mean the typical tartan pattarned shirt that cowboys wear in movie (Like Dallas peeps)... :p

I voted 'Other' on both questions, because I think the masons control USA and the world, when in fact it should be me.

I voted other for the first since special interest groups control the government at the moment in my opinion.

As for the second, the people that vote should control the government. We've come a long way from the population that was around when our current system of government was created and I think it's high time we should revamp it. I don't see the need for some of the layers of government and translation of voting that still happens today. Those things were put in place in a time in America where only a select few were allowed to vote in the first place and the majority of Americans were uneducated workers. Now, I'm not saying that the majority of America isn't an uneducated worker anymore, however, those workers now have access to information about the government and the issues that it wasn't possible to have back then. The current form of government was created with a revolution and it's time a new form of government is created through evolution.

I put other on the first.

Our nation is under the control of the vocal. It's not the largest numbers but the loudest numbers. It is one thing to remain in the middle, examine both sides, and then choose based on your ethics which is correct. It is quite another to sit in the middle and let yourself be swayed by the whomever is loudest on either side. This allows whims to become a significant voting foundation, and it's just not a firm foundation.

This is partially true. Its not exactly the most vocal as much as those who either have a charimatic and moderate appeal or those who draw the least fire for stepping outside the current so called "Moderate" politcal views. A very large portion of the voters really dont pay much attention to whats going on and vote for somebody because of how they look in a suit or cause they have nice hair that day (there is data to back this up though i dont have it handy). This is why you see so many members of both parties trying to look more and more "Moderate" While those who really care or have a strong view on either side are labeled as extremist and pushed to the wayside.

Ironicly its kinda like the qualifying round of American Idol in one sense. (Though at least the judges pay attention) Simon will always favor in not putting somebody though, Paula willa lways want to let them though so Randy the moderate ends up makign the calls in most of the close contest.

This seems to be one of the failign of a two party system in that at the end of the day it ends up leaving the middleman in charge. The politcal parties know this of course and has lead to more than a few conspiracy theories about how they maintain control. Both major parties do tend to aggresivlely go after or shun away any new parties if they start to gain any gorund it all and make sure they are left in obscurity.

Personally I would rather vote for somebody I belive is trying to do the right things than somebody who has a better chance at winning who is just the lesser of two evils yet this is the trap most fall into in our political climate.

I can't believe you compared our country's voting system to American Idol.

LMAO!

Not so much the voting system as the political climate.
