What are MMO's you are interested in?

second life sucks. Graphics suck and so does it's consumption of bandwidth and resources

It doesn't
Yoo suck!

Entropia is a better game overall, better than SL. At least Entropia has some basic aspects of a game, instead of being a life sim.

Star War: Old Republic Online - Lucas Arts Exclusive.
LotRO - Working with Tiggs, Turbine
STO - SOE now owns btw,

SOE now owns STO?!?!

Do you have documentation of said fact? That would explain the prolonged period of press blackout.

no, it was announced that there would be a blackout period for about a year as massive development would go under way. It was announced in an interview a while ago. So far i've seen nothing indicating STO was going to be under the SOE flag. The site still says perpetual

just browsed the official forums...nothing

actually, there was an STO interview released today. nothing about SOE in it. posting it in other game forums now

I'd say its practically a done deal, you can compare it to MxO their developers are owned by SOE, but are still independent to an extent.

I see SOE being the financial backer, and the overall systems support for the servers etc.

LA has hired alot of MMO experienced staff, they must be gearing up for something. I was skimmingwith that one, but its not too far away from reality.

if anything, I expect perpetual to chose Platform as it's publisher, mainly because of the kick ass relationship it has had with it, and the good job it has done with Gods and Heroes.

Another reason why i think it won't chose SOE is because of the mass anti-SOE criticism it has gotten on it's STO forums. Plain and simple, the fanbase does NOT want another SWG happening. It is constantly being voiced over there. By going to SOE, Perpetual will be taking a huge gamble in sacrificing a fairly large chunk of it's playerbase.

You scoff a game distributed only by SOE and not a game developed by Turbine? You my friend must be flogged with a wet noodle during a full moon on the third tuesday of the summer solstice!
[/b]

I am not playing either games. From what I saw in LOTRO it really will just be a PvE game, which I'm not for. Vanguard just looks shitty with or without the SOE tag.

Vanguard :) I'm keeping my eye on age of conan as well, but if it's going to be mixing console and pc players on the same servers then I'll pass.

You may want to look at the Book of Games, Vol 1 Tav - it has a rather large section devoted to Age of Conan.

DC Comics Online

That's a SOE game too.

You guys arguing over Gods and Heroes, you both are right.

It is being published by Platform Publishing, however Platform Publishing is just a trademark of Sony Online Entertainment. Its a convenient way for them to get around putting the SOE logo on the boxes, because they realise they've poisoned the well.

STO most likely will be published by them as well. When I found out about the deal bewtween SOE and Perpetual for Gods and Heroes I took the time to write them and express my disappointment over the deal. I also told them I hoped they wouldn't make the same mistake with STO, and pointed out why I felt SOE was a poor choice, using SWG as a principle in my letter.

There is a large stir on the STO forums too, I'm not sure what they will do, but most likely sadly SOE will still end up with STO and the game will suffer.

SOE does poorly with anyones game that they don't own the IT too, because they don't want to put the money in necessary to make a hit. Games based off of others IT have additional fees which means they cut out development on them in order to maintain what they want as far as revenue. That's why MxO and SWG both look so poorly when you compare them say to EQ2 as some do here. EQ2 SOE owns the IT for so they dump much more resources into it than they do the other two. In essence they are grabbing the movie MMOs not so much to develop them but to ensure that they don't become rivals, then they just minimally support them to keep their contracts going.

NOw as to the OP topic:

Hmm I have always like Marvel Comics more than DC Comics, so I guess I'm kinda waiting for a Marvel MMORPG. To me Marvel characters seemed more real, DC characters more absurd for the most part.

I'd also like to see Star Gate Worlds. I loved the series early on when the Gha'ul where the enemy. I kinda thought the last couple seasons of SG-1 sucked though. They spent to much time jumping to alternate dimensions and no action seemed to have any consequence because the next season they would be back just as good as always.

I'd also like to see a Babylon 5 MMORPG, it has been mentioned but not sure how serious it is.

I'll see how Gods and Heroes turns out with Platform. If it deviates from the natural path SOE takes with games from a different developer, then I will have hope for STO if it goes under the Platform publishing flag. If not, then my only hope is AoC and the TLJ MMO, which right now is just an idea not even in pre-production.

I know. I don't care.
I'm a fan of DC and as long as the features and graphics are right to tempt me I will check it out at least.
