You also haven't played the game in how many months? It is completely different now from when the NGE first came out.
[/b]
With good reason none of my old friends have come back. I'd play the NGE in a heartbeat if all of OoC came back. Which is another reason why I detest the NGE and SOE they drove all my friends away.

I understand that, and i'm not questioning WHY you haven't played. But you're questioning why I play a game that you don't even know anymore.

Would I like it if Pre-Cu was suddenly back around? No. Why? Because the game itself has changed. The people have changed. It's changed so much that it would be impossible to simply "pick up" where we left off. It's not possible.

Do I want to play on an emu server? No.

For one, it will be buggy as all hell.

For another, as much as anyone says "it's just like the old days, it's just like the old days" it's not. It's a few players playing with code that doesn't belong to them. If people are playing God-mode now, it will be rife with it in a few months. (And with the pictures of huge wookiees, and vader, and twisted creatures, I know it's happening)

Finally, the community will NEVER be the same. It could be close, it could even be similar, but it won't be the same. That community had a very specific set of elements that made it work. You'd have to have every single element (including a dev team that pushes our limits on a daily basis) in order to have the same community.

Bah, I didn't want to go into this, but I'm grumpy.

Bolded the parts where you were wrong

How where those bolded parts wrong? I have to agree with the server being buggy, because you know its going to happen.

I have to agree to an extent on the community. The community will never be the same as it used to be on Wanderhome, where everyone knew of eachother--didn't have to know them personally, but you knew of them. The community has changed dramatically since the NGE has released that i've seen; a lot of new faces on the forums.

There will be a lot of new players among these servers, and you never know how long these servers will be up. Maybe once these server owners start seeing how much money these servers are going to be costing to keep up, something will probably change.

Don't get me wrong... I hate NGE, i'm all for Pre-CU, but i'm not too hyped up about these emulation servers... because they won't be offical. People will abuse their powers, close friends of the server owners will get special privledges, server owners may not like certain people, blah blah blah.. one thing leads to another, you have Hakan Sheriff running the server. (no offense, but I can imagine if he was.. turkish tyrant :p )

Hopefully SOE sees the success (if any?) of the emulation servers, and releases Pre-CU servers, but you can't really trust SOE if they ever do release them, because they are bound to fuck something up. The old community of Wanderhome will never be back together fully, because I even know a lot of people that left a lot during the Pre-CU. Now that I really think about it.... I quit Pre-CU a lot due to a lot of inactivaty of PvP on Wanderhome.

/shrug I'm done

I can't make this people see what they don't want to see. Like I said before have fun in the NGE. :p

I played NGE for like 5 minutes when it first name out ;)

Where I find the bold part wrong is the part that says this "It's a few players playing with code that doesn't belong to them" it doesnt belong to sony they didnt code the emu so who does it belong to. Sorry that line kind of ticked me off. But I do understand the part where the comunity wont be the same. Its true it wont be the same way it was a year ago, but I at least want try to have the game I enjoyed for over two years.
On a side note another reason why Ill play the emu is because I refuse to pay a cent to LA/SOE ever again, although I love playing classsic swg.

The REAL code doesn't belong to them Tirrem. It belongs to SOE/LA. Yes, the emu code was created by their own devs, however much of that code was stolen from SOE/LA. How many packets were players asked for and that they received? Bits and bits of things taken.

And if it isn't stolen code, if every single part of that code was developed by someone outside of SOE/LA then the game won't be the same at all. It could be similar, but it won't be a duplicate of pre-CU unless they DID steal the code.

Im not gonna bother explaining nor is it the issue all i wanted to say was that one line I do take offense at. But generally you were right it wont be the exact same. But its alot better in my opinion then what is there. For me it was the diversity I dont think anyone had the exact same template or look as me, that is what i liked and who knows when sony will get all, oops sorry I mean the 9 expertise trees done. For me the community will always be here on this site not in some game, ya we all met in the game but even without the game we all still comunicate.

I won't play either really. I've had my fill of SWG, but it's just time to move on. Going to an EMU server is a waist of time and most of that is just trying to reignite something that isn't there anymore. NGE, I never really had an issue with, but it did take away customization of my toon I liked and also everyone I know left game (yeah I know make new friends), but it's easier to play with people you know, trust, and already know you get along with. It took almost 2.5 years to build the relationships I do have, and tough to replace.

Tiv, you're an idiot. The only code they started out with was the client, which we purchased (the CD's DUH). The code the the fuckfaces over at SOE own is the serverside code which the Emu Devs have built from the ground up. The packets you are referring is data analysis so they can build there own code much faster and easier.

I've never once called you an idiot no matter what you've said to me. I've always respected everything you have said, but that was shallow.

dude theres no need to be name calling. we dont do that around here......well apart from in flame wars :D

Don't take it personal Tiv. I just don't agree with your view on certain things.

Then don't call me an idiot, and I won't. Calling me an idiot MAKES it personal.

Actually you made it personal when you said this:
:p
[/b]

Wow...it's not just YOU I was talking about Curse...I've actually publicly stated why before in a poll that you made when I told you I wasn't going to EMU. That poll appears to be archived now, so I can't quote myself.

But yeah. There's a bit of a difference between me saying I've said something already and you calling me an idiot. But until you apologize, I'm leaving this untouched.

I was going to comment but this thread got needlessly over-dramtic.

This was supposed to be about who (and how many) can we expect to go over to EMU, not start some ridiculous EMU vs. NGE people argument. No one was asked to defend themselves, it was JUST A FUCKING POLL.

Not everything is a drama...and folks wondered why I needed a break from this place.

I'm sorry if I over-reacted. If it was supposed to be about who and how many that you can expect in the EMU, a better poll would have been "Are you going to be in the EMU. If yes, tell us your name."

When you start asking why we don't want to be a part of the EMU, you're going to get high-tempers on both sides.

And I HATE being called an idiot. I'd rather be called a fat tub of lard than an Idiot. It's like one of the worst things anyone can call me.
