it's due tomorrow. topic is whether or not the soldiers of charlie company are guilty of war crimes for the massacre at the vietnamese village of my lai

I'd love to, but I'm not much of a history kind of girl. I'm good at English, Philosphy, Music, Biology, Comp Sci...but not physics nor history.

then you can't help me with anything :x

Sorry. I've done history before, but not in a long time. Oh and I once wrote a paper about how it feels to be stero-typed as a man from a man's point of view. That was one of my favorite things to write. Everyone else picked the normal topic.

i'l never get it done unless the spammage stops. which it wont

If it did - we'd never get to shaggz's status...not sure if i want to or not though.

I could but only if its about boobies or pizza toppings.
And no, they are not guilty. When a child/man/women/ CIVILIAN picks up a weapon with intent to harm, they are no longer a non-combatant.

do it on leelo instead. But from a standpoint yes it was and this is why. If you are not sure if someone is the enemy is different from knowing they are the enemy. Plus remember, we are a country that is wearing the white cape of champion of democracy and well it is hypocritical to be that champion if you can not live up to the standards you preach. Being ex military I enter into war very lightly and war is not nice. People die and it is an ugly business. The question is how one behaves in a war that truly shows what kind of society they are.

LOL!

I am so glad you decided to stop visiting these forums during work hours. What, did it last a whole ten minutes and then realized that you either had to post on the boards or talk to office mates. You wisely choose option A, I see.

P.S. I did that topic last year, you're a year behind me NOOB!!! And also yes they are guilty of war crimes because the villagers weren't military personel even though they had firearms. Military law says there will be no harm of any civilians in a declared war for cost of penalty. World History FTW!

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Zampy @ Dec 7 2005, 05:40 AM)
that's just it, none of the 128 civilians in the village were armed. it was done execution style

well, IMPO, then yes. because if they were enemys, they were still unarmed POWs. but they wont get convicted because The USA government is hypocritical. If we do that they are heros, if the Veit Cong did it, crimes of war?

Militray law (from someone that WAS in the military) states that an armed civilian is no longer a civilian. the reason they are guilty is because they were POWs.

heh, they did convict Lt Calley, but he only served a term of 10 years, 3 of house arrest

You will find that most people convicted of war crimes and tried by their own government tend to get off light. Fact of the matter another countries dead isn't as valuable as one of our own. Notice the Tsunami vs the katrina. what like 1500 americans died vs 200k 3rd world people?

According to the records I did my paper on they were shot for having firearms in the village and being said to be helping the viet kong... I got a good grade on my paper too...

And from what I know from my entire family being in the military is you are suppose to confront a civilian in a non aggressive statis until he/she has shown a necessary means to use lethal force.
