So I've been on the train for the last two hours

god damn i hate the cta. it usually takes me an hour to get from linden to the loop on the purple line express. today some track problems occured and the purple and brown lines have been rerouted to the red line subway. thats 3 train lines on one track. i just passed fullerton. it usually takes 15 mins from here to the loop. well see how long it takes. my class started at 9:10 cst

It is 11:24am, and I just arrived at the student computer lab. my next class starts at 11:50. Wow, longest train ride ever. I boarded at 9:00am and arrived at the loop at 11:15am.

And rankin, I can't trust the CTA bus. It can't take me from Linden to the loop any time quicker. If i had known there would be delays, I would have just driven downtown (the announcement came AFTER the train's doors closed and it left the station).

just today it was. the longest delay i ever experienced in the past year, aside from this one, was 15 minutes.

Agreed on there not being any option between Linden and the loop. Try it at 4am. All-stops for the goddamn lose. Once you get down past Howard, the options open up considerably. Not that I'm suggesting you take the bus regularly. Fuck THAT. Just when you're stuck on a slow-ass train due to construction/accidents/the CTA sucking, whatever it is, you've got other options depending on where you are. :)

What is a train?

No trains here other than the cargo train that crosses town. There's the armtrak(sp) when you go to the bay area.

We have the world famous "El" train here in Chicago. Although it's popularity went down tremendously with the new "pink line." BTW, rankin, I heard that they're proposing a circle line to connect all the outer points of the sytem (linden, cermak, 95th, etc).

lololololol

the CTA with emminent domain... in WILMETTE? Fat fuckin' chance. I could see a system ending in Skokie at the Swift terminal, but no way in hell would they be able to carve one through Wilmette outside their existing rights of way. Its creepy enough when it descends to ground-level.

They need to figure out how to extend it to Schaumburg and Oakbrook. Also never gonna happen. Then again, who knows.. they managed to build a subway in Athens...

The athens subway is AWESOME. it's one of the most beautiful, cleanest, and best subway systems i've been on.

Oh, i read some more on the circle line. The Pink Line is the first phase of it. Instead of actually connecting ends, they're just adding more clutter to the middle to "save time" so people at Blue Line Division St don't have to go to the loop to travel to Orange Line Ashland :(

Largely useless, but... more doable. Nothing's gonna work without dropping billions on it. Without an Olympic bid to grease the funding wheels (and redesigning Soldier Field *again*), I have a feeling they'll call their wussy little "circle line" good and call it a day.

btw, media reports have been made public that Alexi Giannoulias' bank (Broadway bank) holds many accounts to mob members lol. My dad knew his dad. When he found out that Alexi was running for Treasurer, my dad was like, "OMG, his dad was the biggest crook and fraud in the entire Greek community. He robbed hundreds of Greeks that were starting up in this country."

oh, i just found out why the day was full of CTA train delays. Some guy commited suicide by jumping off the Sedgewick station, and later on in the day a southbound train coming from the Brown/Purple line caught on fire
