So I got hit by a car

Curse

Bored to death... maybe...
I was biking down a sidewalk on broadway and I was going to bike past a car since they were at a red light when all of a sudden they accelerated and hit my back wheel the back wheel is completely fucked their license plate actually got stuck in my spokes. So I get off my bike and I scream "WHAT THE FUCK!" the dumb bitch that was driving said she didn't see me so I whip out my cell phone and take down her information on the notepad, I got her license plate, name address and phone number. Then the police arrive as does the fire department and ambulance I told them I was perfectly fine and that only my back wheel was hit. They took down our information, my sister in law got there and I went home.

I'm thankful I wasn't hurt seriously, I'm completely fine. Tomorrow I'm going to head down to the bike shop and get a quote to see if my bike is salvageable or not. I'm going to call them after I get my quote, if they pay to repair my bike I'll be content. If not I'm going to see if I can sue them although I don't really know much about how to go about doing that. :\

NVM, thought she left the scene. To be honest you shouldn't have told the police or medical about your condition, gotten checked out, and then spoken to a lawyer. Not sayin you should lie, but a lot of injuries after the fact don't surface until a few days later.

I've done enough auto accidents or pedestrian accidents where the victim tells the police or medical team they are fine, later find out they have pretty bad injuries, try to sue the individual, and ultimately fail in court because it was documented that they said they were fine.

Oh, and if you die, can I have your stuff?

I doubt I will die from that accident but if I do Timi I will make sure you are in the will.

glad to hear you are all right curse. although just wondering cos i think it is a bit different over here. if it is a red light can bikes go through them over there? i think bikes have to stop just like any other vehicle here but i could be wrong

First let me say that I'm very happy you're okay, and I hope you continue to be so. Take care of yourself first, and know you'll be in my prayers and thoughts.

Timi's right. Something I learned once when I got hurt is that you always accept medical attention, even if you think you're okay. If you get hit by a car, the car's insurance company will pay for any and all expenses. I've no idea on bike vs car laws, but I know that Mass is a pedestrian state. I'm sure Fluffy knows more. Also their insurance may pay for the bike, they may not. Depends on their policy and what's included.

Granted, they should pay for the bike, but if they don't have the money, it's not gonna happen. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.

If you're looking to sue... prob should have fallen down and flopped around crying for a while. Never say "I'm fine"... duh.

I wasn't going through any light I was riding across the crosswalk while the car was waiting at a red light.

I am 100% fine it was a slow speed hit they just ended up bending my back wheel to hell.

lol the same thing happened to my friend about 6 years ago and it was one of the funniest things i've ever seen he didnt get hurt but we seen him do a complete roll across the street and then right after that a truck hit a car which proceeded to hit a bronco.

That sounds rough, I'm glad that didn't happen to me.

ah i see. fucking idiots they were then. i do not agree with this suing mentality that seems to be rife these days though. fair enough sue if there's been a genuine problem, but people seem to be going at it even when its their own fault! really grinds my gears (lol)

Meh I don't care anymore my brother fixed my bike it's as good as new. Next time I get into an accident though I'm going to sue someone. :p

yeah it's that what i hate. when it is like an automatic thing everyone does just to get some £££ (that is a pound symbol if any of you didn't know :D)
