Yes, it's safe and it absolutely rules. The one bad thing about it is there's no push-to-talk like you get in ventrilo or teamspeak. But its sound quality, at least with overseas people, is far, far superior to the telephone. If you just want to talk 1v1 with someone, it's absolutely perfect. You can also have like 4 people online as well, but it does use up some bandwidth and so the sound quality will diminish a bit.
