Reconsider buying a console, remember Farcry?

This is why my last console was the N64. PC technology will always be far more superior when it comes to gameplay than consoles will be. This is the follow up to FarCry. The graphics want to make me cry. Sorry PS3, dx10 ftw

No argument for PS3 or the Wii will ever convince me to buy one. PC all the way
[/b]

But the PS3 has Blueray Technology and we can't forget RIIIIIIIIIDGE RACER! It's RIIIIIIDGE RACER!

Blu-Ray drives for PCs aren't that far off. I still stand by the fact that Blu-Ray is the DVD technology of the future. However, after seeing the capabilities of DX10 and the Crysis engine, it dawned upon me that we're still in 2006. It will be closer to 2010 before newer consoles are released that can match the graphical capabilities exemplified here.

Is PS3 still my choice of console, if I were to get a console? Yes. Will computers of the future incorporate technologies introduced in the PS3? Yes. Does DX10 and the Crysis engine obliterate any current console's graphical capabilities? Yes.

Every time a new generation of consoles comes out, I am very tempted to get one (like the PS2). However, every time I get so close, i end up not getting one because PC gaming comes to save the day.

The only consoles I can see myself getting in the future once I get some money is the Wii and the PS2 (Guitar Hero ftw?)

Driver updates = 5 minutes of your time.

Getting games to work = if your comp is 5 years old, then this may be a problem

Installing software = First time i've heard that one. A true lazyman's excuse :P Then again, installing software is better cause it doesn't need to load everything from a CD/DVD.

Glitches = ummm, that has nothing to do with your PC, as it is dependant on the game

Going to try to completely stay out of this argument. Just, if I wanted to play games at a XBox360/PS3 level on my PC, I would have to spend a helluva lot more than $600 to do it.

Glitches = crashes, etc... :P

It is more hassle to play a game on a PC, no doubt about that, but you have a better game, and usually more content/options for it.

I'm not a console gamer... last one I owned was a Sega Genesis :P

Why is Blu-Ray the drive of the future? I'm more of an HVD person myself.

I wouldn't say that it is... I would say HDDVD is winning.

Someone here posted that link

Well, HVD is pretty new. Has a demonstrated maximum of 3.9TB of storage (most common I think is 200-300GB), and write speeds of 20Mb/s

There's also Tapestry Media, which are 300GB DVD sized discs with a 120MB/s write speed.

Both of these are probably targeted at Large Consumers (data backup) but you can always hope.
