Quickie Computer Help

I need to update my graphics/sound drivers, I've DLd the latest correct drivers and installed them, but dxdiag still has the old ones listed, telling me I installed them wrong.

a. do I need to unstill the old drivers first? and if so...how?

b. thanks for taking the time to read my lame post


Nvidia GeForce4 420 Go is the graphics card
Windows xp 200 Home Edition is OS

The new ones should have over written the old ones, but you can go into device manager by right clicking on my computer-----> properties ----> device manager, then look for your hardware.....click on the "+" symbol -----> double clicking on the hardware then selecting the "driver tab" . It should give you the option to uninstall the driver
 
Ya I usually uninstall them before I install updated ones. I would also use driver cleaner but if you have never used it you might need someone to talk you through it.
