I do enjoy how football in the US is a brutal sport and in the UK its a sport that involve men carrying a purse. But what do I know, I'm a hockey player. And we all know thats not a violent sport :p

With the new rules in the NHL, hockey has become a small step more violent then figure skating.

I don't agree with the no contact in front of the net, I think that is a pussy rule. But talking about it being weak is a whole different world from you being on the ice with them. People talk about how much more dangerous football is than hockey. I disagree more than you can imagine, football plays 16 games a season on average if you go to the superbowl you play 21 games tops (including wild card) and hockey plays 82 games a year at least in the regular season, you'd play up to another 28 games after that (16 minimum). Not to meantion having an 8 ounce piece of rubber being shot at you at speeds reaching up to 100+ mph.

And just another lil touch, the NHL has no drug policy. So roids are not against any bi-law whatsoever. ;)

No arguing the toughness of NHL players. Just a little miffed about the new rules...I am all for no 2-line passes, widening the zones and adding shootouts, but making the game dantier was not a good way to go.

Can't compare football and hockey, for example: football lineman get hit and manhandle 300 pound opponents on EVERY play (lets not even get into what running backs go through), if a hockey defensive man gets 2 or 3 licks on a forward they had a "good shift". Not knocking hockey players, respect them completely, just saying you can't compare the two sports for "toughness", each has it's own insane levels of physical and atheltic demands.
