WOW might have more than all of the others together :P

In May of 2006, WoW had over 50% of the subscribers.

C ? This indicates that most or all of the data points provided are merely industry "best guesses" or are otherwise questionable. Usually, I will not chart MMOGs that rate C or lower. Their numbers should be taken with a large grain of salt.[/b]

Star Wars Galaxies (Accuracy Rating: C)

Since its launch in June 2003, the number of subscribers to Star Wars Galaxies has always been somewhat uncertain. An official statement released by John Smedley, President of SOE, in March 2004 suggested there were then currently between 200,000 and 300,000 subscribers and that SW: G was the "second largest MMO in the North American market". I assume he was discounting Ragnarok Online and possibly FFXI in that statement, so I put the number at that time at 275,000. Since then, the number of subscribers has fallen sharply, although there is no official word on exactly how much. In a more recent statement in March 2006, Smedley said that SWG was the fifth largest MMOG in the North American market, behind WoW, EQ2, EQ, and RuneScape, which would put the number of subscribers somewhere between 175,000 and 250,000. Inside sources offer a more precise but incomplete picture; as of March 2006 SWG only had 120,00 monthly paying subscribers, but this number does not include those who are subscribed to the game via game time cards or SOE station pass subscriptions. Based on previously known data, I've put the total number of subscribers for SWG at 190,000 for March 2006, but the actual number could be anywhere from 175,000 to 225,000.

so wow eq1 has a shit load of ppl still wth lol
[/b]
Well wow, keeps getting better. And EQ1 still has a lot of roleplaying guilds. Roleplaying guilds will last until the servers die out. They create their own content. But EQ is bringing out a lot of adventure packs and expansions still.

A free browser based MMO that uses Java. A while back (Can't remember how long ago) it went from crappy 2d graphics to 3d graphics which look descent. It isn't based soo much around its combat as it is around its freedom to do ANYTHING in game that you want. Combat is incredibly basic, but its quests are by far the best I have seen in any MMO. They actually feel like questing not just *Kill this guy, get something looted from him, take it somewhere* Community is crap for the most part, lots of annoying little kids with ego problems. However, it is free and the scope of things to do in there is enough to suck me in for about 2 and a half years. (Same as galaxies, only I only stayed that long in galaxies because of in game friends.) I'd say if you are bored try it out, don't focus on combat too much and try some quests.

PS. You can pay five bucks a month and become a member. I recommend becomming a member around 30-40. It over doubles your map area, you get extra skills, weapons, double your quests you can do, all sorts of fun looking armor and clothes, 4 times as much bank space (Which is needed because there are tons of extra items.)

PPS. Holy shit...I just checked the website after writing all this crap about it and they added player owned houses...I am totally checking this out :D
