Wow...50k subs

hehe yeah true. i dont know why i wrote sharp either because it doesnt make sense whatsoever

Galaxies has been on a steady drop. Although, SOE's allegations that they regained their glory. :p

I think that SWG's subscription number is off by at least 20-30k. It seems more likely that it has about 70-80k subscribers.

EVE averages 30k+ online in the evenings....its gotta have way more than 50k subscriptions....

Thanks

Probably not to far off :)

I see the slight dip since the beginning of the year, no doubt done by the devs inpropreity. Still its fairing better than similarly aged MMOs in retention of players.
EVE has 20k-30k players at all times when you log in.

Actually, I think this downfalling trend in MMO subscriptions is because the wheel NEEDS reinventing. WoW subscriptions are falling as well, and more and more people are trying out new MMOs. But since none of them offer anything new, or tried reinventing the wheel and failed, there is a general subscription "slump" in the industry. Second Gen MMOs so far have been mediocre in performance (with Second Life being the leader). I don't think we'll see another groundbreaking MMO (aka, 300k+ subscribers over an extended time period) until Third Generation MMOs come out. That's when the wheel will actually BE reinvented in a captivating way. Right now, Second Generation MMOs are becoming in a way a MySpace Video Game. They are maintaining the community part, but they are putting much more emphasis on the individual, and putting the individual in the spotlight. This in turn causes gamers to focus more on glorifying themselves than the community, making it a single player game with networking options.

Nothing so far. They're adhering to the "revealing one thing each month" promise they made. The only new thing is a podcast where they interview some guy who is working on the storyline...nothing interesting though.
