"The military cannot afford to turn anyone away. We need boots on the ground, and if some of those boots are Prada, fabulous!!!"

Amen.

So much the better... "Don't ask, don't tell" seems to be working.

For the record, I don't have a problem with gay in the military, or at least not just because they're gay.

It's just I've seen the reactions towards people that are even suspected of being gay, and it's not something that should be going on. Until society changes to completely allow open homosexuality then that same open homosexuality doesn't belong in the rank and file of those defending the country.

these people with the prejudice should be punished not the ones willing to fight and die for their country and the rights of those no matter their sexuality....
until the prejudice is known to be unsatisifactory then the hatred will spread to generations to come

In a perfect world, or a realisticly politically correct world.

My point of view is not dictated by how things should be, but more as a solution to how things really are.

The first sentance I can agree with, but prejudice towards homosexuals is fading every generation, much like racism did. People my parents age buy bumper stickers that have "Man + Woman = Marrage". I'm sure that by the time I am my parents age a bumper sticker like that is going to be just as horrid as saying something racist. I'm not saying that racism is fixed completley, because that for the most part is a personal issue. However, it seems this generation is a whole lot more open towards gays then our parents. Probably due to the fact that when our parents were growing up gays were relativly new in mainstream society and they were the one of the leading spreaders of AIDS there at the beginning.
