Dogs are much more social then cats, more lovey dovey then cats and more loyal since they are pack animals. Cats are so much more independant and they prefer living by their own since they aren't pack animals. Also, one can teach dogs a lot more (since they are much more social by nature). And dont come with the 'stuff' saying its because cats doesnt want to, or they are too smart...they just cant get tought as much (or at least it takes *a lot* more effort) - and thats that! ^_^ The teacher has spoken!

Kitties can understand on a higher level than a dog. Feelings, looks, etc... Or at least how they respond to me.
My two older kitties have trained the three younger ones, in where to go pee and poop, where to eat and which plate is for who, where to drink water, what to do and not to do. They understand perfectly when I don't like or like something.
I have seen and heard from friends training their dogs, it takes weeks for them to learn a single trick, what a kitty can do in a matter of minutes.
Also another aspect and that which not many get, is the your affinity towards them. ^_^

And I do not think they can understand on a higher level then dogs lol Dogs even teach kids what to do, they raise human kids as well as their own puppies ..and other kittens too (and Im sure cats would raise puppies as well, think I've seen it on TV

Honestly tho, I think that cats and dogs are about equally smart just different kinds of smart, and they are different in their nature and respond to different things... ...and that is why some like cats more, and some like dogs more. Im more of a dog person myself ^_^
