Arsenal FC

We did what we had to do, look at the chances we had 4 one on ones, gilberto missed a sitter and so did henry.

We could of won 4-0 lol, but i agree not our best performance.

I know what it is, ESPN's ticker and website have been following it, and as soon as I saw Arsensal was still in it last week I have been keeping up with it. But yeah, Arsenal played for the tie...lame.

Did you watch the game ??

Juventus Team Statistics Arsenal
0 Goals 0
0 1st Half Goals 0
2 Shots on Target 5
3 Shots off Target 3
0 Blocked Shots 1
1 Corners 8
21 Fouls 14
13 Offsides 0

55.7 Possession 44.3

As you can see arsenal were far the better team, away from home in the dela alpi against a fantistic juventus team who were expecting to murder the arsenal team (football wise).

Nah, only caught the highlites (or lowlights on a 0-0 tie). :)

Judging by the stats, it sounded like Juve was playing a very desperate game there (higher tackles, fouls and offsides), probably pretty sloppy too. They had the ball longer and for more in Arsenal territory, where as Arsenal was most likely playing heavy defense/midfielders (I am betting they had only 1 forward) then only striking on counter attack opportunites. So yeah, you played for the tie.

We deffinatly did not play for a draw, if we played for a draw how would we have more shots on and off target ?

Of course we was under pressure in the later minutes of the second half as juve had to push forward and try and score.

Arsenal had 4 clean one on ones and if there were a few better touches would of won the game 3-0 at least. Arsenal can not play deffensivly ask any english football fan. Arsenal are the most exciting attacking team there as, as good as barca on there day.

Because you were counter attacking their overly agressive play, catching them with too many men too far up field. That's how. The numbers you posted certainly suggested that.

52.3 Territorial Advantage 47.7

Hardly a counter attacking stat, 2.3% difference from where the ball was in each others half. A counterattacking team would have had maybe a 20% difference.

True but the big difference in fouls, offsides, and tackles suggest Juve's play to be more aggresive and while the Arsenal was close in field play, the lack of tackles but still trailing possesion time does suggest a rather defense posture, no?

to be fair arse werent playing defensively, however they were a lot more cautious than the first leg at highbury - as youd expect with a 2-0 lead. theres no way juventus could have been as bad as they were in the 1st leg but they were still appalling.

if that is the standard of the top side in serie a these days, then italy is going to have problems in the world cup
