wife went to her o.b. today for her yearly checkup and had dangerously high blood pressure ..not like hey you need to watch the stress high but phonecall to the husband "thay are taking me to the e.r. high " lol

anyways shes a stresser for sure she worries about so much shit ..ill behonest dumb shit too like asteroids hitting the earth not just bills getting paid ..im also mr no stress ( i once drove myself to the e.r. with a compound radius/ulna ( lower arm ) fracture ) so my not worrying about anyhting probably makes her worry about the shit i should be worried about lol

anyways once there they found her potassium lvls were in the "have stroke and die range"

so we sat at the hospital for 6 hours while they gave her these potassium pills that were the size of peanut m&m's

eventually she was sent home with mildly high b.p. and enough potassium in her body to be a lake downstream from a morton thiokol plant ...

she goes back tomorrow for follow ups and what not but were all ok now ..shes in the bed loopy as hell from some anti stress pill they gave her and im comfortably infront of me puter

anyone else ever had potasium issues ..you get it from citrus fruits ,bananas and green leafy veggies ...and were vegetarians so we were a little perplexed to say the least

we also go to the gym regulary and were non smokers ..none of the common high blood pressure key signs apply to her with the exception of the stress

dunno /shrug

So, she was having bp problems cause her potassium level was too low or too high?

they are not entirely sure if one caused the other or if they are both symptoms from something else going on ..thats what alot fo tomorrow will be spent figuring out ..fyi it was too low the doc said normal potassium lvls are 3.5-5 of what ever measurement is that they use ..hers was was hovering under 2 which is a long way below when using such small numbers

oh lol forgot to add that she was hooked up to some uber fancy blood pressure machine ..not the old school inflatable thingie whacthamacallit type but one with lots of light looked real official..anyways its giving an b.p. update every 15 secs or so and its gradually going down as the medication is hitting her ..until she remembers that tonight is the season finale of lost up up up it goes cause shes gonna miss it ..they had to bring a tv into her area to get it back down ..i tell you man she stresses way too much :(

:( sorry to hear
Hypokalemia or Hyperkalemia are both very scary!!
Thank god she had an awesome OB who caught that and got her to the ER.
They will do a lot of work up on her kidneys to see if they are an underlying factor. Kidneys tend to be a primary focus when K is an issue. But your poor wife needs to find a way to relax, because her doctors will not stop their detective work until they know what caused this condition.

Oh, I really hope it is not her kidneys. But, seeing as how her blood pressure is high just for missing a TV show, then I would probably guess that she is just exhausting herself with her overstressing. Probably over-firing her neurons and the like (you know the stuff that electrolytes handle).

Here's a nice chart I found about foods with high K in them:

Hope she gets better, and not to sound like an ass, but maybe Curse is right, perhaps giving her someone to talk to about her stress levels would be good for her.
