I'll rate them later but I've always thought that the PS3 commericals have been a bit on the weird side.. I guess thats why I like them. :D

I'm not good on rating things with numbers, so I'll just say what I think.

The first three (Blu-Ray, Storage, Cell) were awesome because they went and gave an in depth view on breaking down the consoles features, such as space capacity and graphics quality.

The commercial Six Axis was very creative.

The Baby commercial was very fucking creepy and will probably give me nightmares, but it was awesome. :emperor:

The last one was pretty lame and boring.

Haha! Okay; just a warning - I am a critical bastard and marketing double speak doesn't work on me so I always try to notice the BS where I think a company is lying to me.

Blue Ray - 2- Pretty cool ad, but the message loses all credibility to me when I realize they are trying to make people think blue ray means higher definition graphics for games. Sure it does for prerendered video clips; but large storage space has nothing to do with high def for 3D rendered gameplay. (360 does HD just fine with the space of a DVD) So this commercial pissed me off that they were trying to trick me.

Storage - 5 - No complaints except for the end. It pisses me off when the guy tries to suggest with more disc space developers will suddenly be making epic huge games to fill them up (like the people who think "OMG with such a huge disc they could fit a game that takes a year to play through!") which obviously will not happen.

Cell - 8- Okay, pretty cool

allright, maybe I'll rate more of them later... :p

So, Your saying you can get he same content of the Next Generation of games, on 4.7 gig DVD, give me a break. Have you played a 1080 game yet, because Xbox 360 only support a native 720p output, which is currently suppressed by no HDMI support. I've already seen some working demos of games, that use 30 gig, to 40 gig of the BRD, and this games are jam packed full of content, which will keep the gamer happy for over 200-600 hours of unique gameplay.

I can actually see what Hippo is saying about the Storage. I can't really word what I'm trying to say right now because I have been up for 2 days now but here I go....

Why would game developers spend more money developing a game that would last say.. 80 hours, opposed to making one that would last 40 hours and still would sell as well as the longer one? Are they going to jack up the game prices when they start actually putting the storage capacity to the maximum?

The Xbox 360 supports 1080p native, and you're an idiot if you think that you think that component cables can't produce it.

Okay I suppose theoretically with the space of a BRD, a GTA like game could be made with literally 1000's of square miles of unique terrain. But this game would take like 100 years to create and hand craft millions of unique buldings and everything.

You can't be serious that you think devs will be filling up all this space with games many times larger and longer than current games..... So they are really going to put 5 times more effort into making a game 5 times longer but still charge the same $60 as a 40 hour game? Sure.......

(by the way, your "200-600 hours of unique gameplay" quote seems like more marketing bullshit to me :p. The same could be said for lame stupid games like pokemon, because you can replay the game over and over to get everything or whatever)

All Blu-ray essentially does is allow developers to be sloppier.

Check out what can be done if you really crunch for space

The game is only 95kb big.

1, 2, and 3 I give a 7/10 because I love the calm but commanding narrator like the movie commercials. I love how the fade from one thing into another and break down technical information while showing you what it can do.

The 6 axis is a decent commercial so I give it a 5/10. The effects are great on the crows plus the whole 6 axis idea really catches me from back in the day when i would lean my controller playing mario cart.

7, the baby commercial is just creepy and plain dumb 1/10. 0/10 being a blank screen...

Blue Ray

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gt95EWccd_M this one was good and informative ..it explained why br is superior to standard dvd from sony's p.o.v.

Storage

http://youtube.com/watch?v=_WRUNyQiNtQ this one started out ok .. one thing though that i noticed first time through ..the commercial represented 30gig as approx 20 flowers then said 50 gig is near double and proceeded to create an unlimited field of flowers to represent that ... 20 x2 doesnt not equal unlimited field heh ... however the shot from about 39 secs to 59 secs was stunning ..after the flowers it kinda lost me ( not tech wise just attention wise ) and i just kinda spaced the rest

Cell

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ipeTtvOxVMM although the longest i still found it more managable to watch than the previous clip ..was good

Six Axis

http://youtube.com/watch?v=DyFrekxy7wg a standard type commercial imo nothing awesome nothing lame a good 20 sec spot when you need one

Baby

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJaGScKpZuU although creepy i actually liked it ..maybe good for adultswim or late night t.v. :)

One of the EU ones :D

The baby commercial reminds me of that Daft Punk video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fx5Jlap6uZY
I think DP did the baby robot thing better though.
Could it be the same animatronic, but with a skin?

All the ads struck me the same way... Kind of ordinary. We've seen stuff like this for years. if the console itself is so innovative, then it's an injustice that the commercials advertising it are not.

Sony really should study Apple, Volkswagon and others who know a little something about marketing their products.
