wisdom teeth

I only ever had one, got it pulled a few months ago, injected my gum to numb it and pulled it, all over in 10 mins , wasn't even knocked out :D guess I was lucky :P

what are the reasons for getting them taken out?

mine came through a few years ago and i havent had any problems but it seems to me like most people have to have them removed :/

The reason I had mine out was because they were what they called impacted. Instead of growing upward like normal teeth, mine grew parallel to my jaw line which caused them to push on the other teeth in the back of my mouth.

When I had mine removed I was still in the Army, but at the time my unit was deployed in the field for training and our Battalion C.O. had a "thing" about medevac'ing non-life threatening conditions out. I had my wisdom teeth (all 4) pulled in a field hospital and spent the next couple of days "in the rear with the gear". Granted, it wasn't as good as being back at the barracks, but it beat sleeping out in the cold somewhere.

They cause jaw problems in some. For most people they'll just rot and damage the teeth around them.

Fourth and final is slated for removal sometime this spring. Just wasn't enough room for most of them - this one never quite grew in all the way and is causing issues all on its own now.

finally i can eat!!!!!, that and they ushually push your teeth together which would hurt alot so they get them taken out but some people can leave them because they have room

Its because you have a wide mouth from ugh.... never mind I wont go there.

I just went for my xrays today and found out I have to get my bottoms out within the next 6 months and my tops soon there after. I laughed at the dentist when she told me that I would have to stay in bed for 3 days for having teeth pulled.
