UFC buys the Pride franchise

Yep, you read that right! The UFC has bought the Pride franchise for $70 million (peanuts compared to what the UFC can generate now-a-days from PPV events). They are saying there will be megafights galore between the worlds best fighters now. The quality of the UFC just skyrocketed. ...wow.







Okay, probably 90% reading this have no clue what I am saying or what this means...sorry. Just too excited right now.

Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fights between very talented people. Not faked

UFC = Ultimate Fighting Championship

Pride = The Japanese version of UFC

Thats sad the quality level of the UFC is much lower then pride. Ive seen videos of when top level UFC fighters go to Pride and get their asses kicked. Hopefully pride wont be run into the ground. Even though Bob Sapp is garbage.

Well...we are about to find out who is better. Expect some matchups real soon that test that notion.

Chuck Liddell who is considered by many within the UFC to be one of the best pound for pound fighters left and went to Pride were he was utterly embarassed, and forced to return to UFC with his tail between his legs.

Well I'm not watching UFC to choose a favorite, I really have no favorite. I'm watching it to see fucking awesome fights, and I've watched some of Pride on Youtube.. These guys are no joke!

The UFC is made up primarily of fighters who ground and pound lacking amazing wrestling techniques. With the exception of Hoyce Gracie there has never been a true wrestler who could really submission tap someone. For an awesome fight look by Hoyce Gracie vs Sakuraba(spelling) it was a 2 hour long fight.
