Curse
Bored to death... maybe...
Right when I get home I notice a gigantic package in my room. There was my case "whoo hoo" I thought. "Finally I can ditch this POS micro atx case with all of its scratches and worn out plastic!". So I get to work unplugging my micro atx tower everything comes out easily and open her up and start taking out all the parts. First to come out were my two optical drives then my floppy drive which I never use and then my SD card reader. I then start on the expansion cards taking out my video card with relative ease and blowing out all the dust while I'm at it, after that out comes the power supply and finally I take out the motherboard.
I then open up my Transformer case package and find out the front of the case (where the drive bay shields are) only has one leg left to clip on the rest are broken from shipping (a bad omen of sorts). I had a couple of friends over who told me I should send it back that it wasn't worth all the money for the front to be broken, but of course me being the stubborn person I am decide that the front will be fine as long as the optical drives are there to hold it in place. So I start putting all my parts in motherboard, psu, optical drives, floppy drive, card reader, video card, etc.
After about an hour of putting things in my case I finally finish and start hooking up all the new fans. I get that done put the side on the case and finally power the case dubbed as "Jazz" on. Nothing works... so I unplug it go look in the case everything seems fine. I thought "Maybe my power supply can't power all these new fans". So I unplug a few fans and press the power button. Nothing again.. so I thought "Hrmm maybe I put the power button on the wrong prongs". I carefully put the power switch on the correct prongs and finally turn it on. The fans start spinning the lights go on and smoke starts rising from the computer.... I smell the horrible smell of burning circuitry and I look over at my motherboard now on fire! I panic and unplug it at the speed of light... look at the motherboard and bow my head in dismay.
I took everything out again and found out where I made my mistake. A very critical mistake at that. I didn't put the mounting screws on so the board was screwed directly to the steel chassis and apparently the current went through the chassis and caused it to light up like the 4th. I then use the mounting screws put everything back in turn it on and no fire started of this I was relieved but my motherboard is now dead. RIP HP motherboard of mine you served me well for a good 4 years.
I called my brother and asked him to check craigslist for me. But there are no socket 462 motherboards up. :\ So he brings over his Pentium III IBM 512 RAM 566 MHZ. When he gets here it doesn't work so he punched it a few times and finally it booted up. The computer I'm on now takes abuse and turns it into computing power apparently.
So now I have to wait until Thursday to get my paycheck and go motherboard shopping. (I want to play EQ2 damn it!)
