Screw subsidy housing

Ok, so I go out looking for a cheap place to live. I found these really cool studio apartments for only $290 a month, but the problem is that they are subsidy housing, and since my parents still claim me, I can't live their. Its completely bogus because, although my parents make a decent living, they can't just give me money to live in an apartment, they are just making enough for themselves, and I honestly can't afford any much more than that. argh...

Try owning a home in one of the 3 highest housing cost sectors in the US...DrewPA knows what I am saying.

Honestly it's all relative to your income. I pay about 30% of my yearly income towards housing.

Gross or net....big difference.

I pay $435, for this studio. But I have 2 houses for rent, $1,300 a month. They are close to the rich sector, close to school and shopping center. $1,300 a month is rather cheap for that area. My sister said to put them at $2,500. lol

And that is just the rent, they have to pay for services. Phone, water, electricity, cable, etc...

So basically, the rent ofthe houses pays for their own maintenance and my current place. :p

That's gross for me. God net? I'm over 40%. And that's a high net.

>33% for net. Luckily Wook Wife works full-time now...:(

wow, i'd love an apartment for $290 a month. Too bad you can't find anything decent for under $600 a month in chicago. I've seen them go down to $300 a month, but those are the baet down, no heat, no hot water, in the friggin ghetto, kill the white man neighborhoods, way south from where i work and go to school.

I live in government subsidized housing. I get a 3br 2ba apt for $500/mo. Normal rate here for that is around $800. For an actual house, rent is over a grand. And I live in a little town, the whole county population is barely over 30000.

Housing is that cheap in other places? HOLY FUCKING HELL! The apartment I live in is fucking 1600 a month!!!!!!

MA FTL :(

Yep, in same boat as you, just paying more for a house :(

Wages here are alot less though, so it probably works out to about the same if you were to figure actual cost of living. We see lots of retirees from NY, FL, CA who come here after selling their homes elsewhere. They usually have enough to buy a nicer home that what they originally had, plus full furnishings/remodelling/more land.
