Together with Microsoft Word.
[/b]

Microsoft word is much more refined (and generally better) than OpenOffice. OpenOffice has its place, but it isn't far enough into development to be an actual competitor to Word.

Oh, and as for Wordpad, it has its uses over OpenOffice or Word, because it's faster :)
I could care less about features when editing a .CFG or reading an .NFO

CFG and NFO you can use notepad. Wordpad is just a useless feature.

OpenOffice is much more than Word would ever be. I have a plug-in to photoshop & ilustrator, can edit text with the proofer and translation tools I need. Word will only imagine of such a feature. Word has so much stuff I will never use. The good part about OpenOffice is that you can modify it to our needs, Word comes as a package and is very invasive.

Completely agree on all accounts.

I mostly use notepad for making notes about games or what not. It just so happens in this case that I needed a program with extra text editing tools which wordpad has.

Think of wordpad as a stripped down MS word. No Spell Check , no fancy pictures etc. just basic functionality. Besides spell checking makes people lazy anyway. Sometimes theres the 2 or 3 typos that can't be fixed by spell check which forces you to read your work. Trust me I have to read every post that I type out because if not I would make a lot less sense than I do now heh.

Speller and translator are tools to help not solve the issues. ;)

Pffft, I have loads of experience both work and personal with Word/Wordpad/OpenOffice/etc. I think the critique presented above by Sovi was spot on.
