PS3 price drop

So apparently now Sony is dropping the 60GB model PS3 to $500. Seems too little, too late for me. I'd need a drop of twice that ammount to $400 before they could win me over.

Also they are now planning to sell a new 80GB model for $600. The only question I have is: Who the hell pays $100 more for 20 gig of hard drive?

I kinda wish these guys would come out with several versions of the consoles... For example, the 360.

I don't need all the media center stuff
I don't need all the online xbox live stuff
I don't need a billion menus and pages of stuff I'll never use
I probably don't need a huge hard drive to play and save games
All I need is a console that plays a game...

Think of all the money you'd save then. :p

You'll get your wish by the end of the year.

Yeah but unfortunatly it seems like either they have a really screwed up concpt of what components are worth, or the new hard drive is made of solid gold. Because I seriously don't get how 80GB instead of 60GB warrants an extra $100. I can get a 250 gig for my PC for like $70. (And I refuse to believe the PS3 hard drive is anything different than a regular PC drive.) I think I read somewhere that hackers were installing their own 100 gig hard drives, so really this upgrade seems really pointless.

That's probably true seeing that modders have been able to come up with ways to download games straight to their xbox's hard drive. But just remember, that kills the warrenty on it so if it breaks, you're screwed. :p

I still won't buy one for $500. I still see no games worth buying the PS3 for since the 360 basically has all their "good" exclusives. The only exclusive that the 360 doesn't have so far is Metal Gear Solid, but they are supposedly announcing a new MGS game for the 360 at E3.

I can buy a 500gb external drive fer 250 dlls on the store. That'll be 50 cents per gig. And SCEA is putting it 5 dlls per gig? Now that is a waste of money,

I've been a bit dissapointed with what is coming out for ALL of the consoles (computer to) and how long it's taking. I'm thinking about just giving up on console gaming alltogether because in the end, I only get a console to play one or two "exclusives".. kinda pointless. Oh.. and why pay 60$ for a game when I can pay 40-50 for the same game that'll run better on my PC.

I havn't bought a single console game within the past year or so because there hasn't been anything worth getting. :/ I could almost say the same for PC.. slow year. :S

No new stories. People think graphics can replace a storyline. I just finished Infernal... Pretty graphics, and the most stupid storyline. The game ends and all the questions they raised at the beginning of the game are NEVER answered. So annoying...

I kinda got that from S.T.A.L.K.E.R.. I survived the horrors of Chernobyl and a steel support rod falls from the ceiling and kills my character instantly in the ending movie. :/ One of those wtf moments. >_<

What gets me is those shitty endings, they can either make or break a game..

Currently waiting for Mass Effect....

Should take the example from anime, some have oogly endings, but there a lot of good ones too. Games now, no good storylines at all. The last good game I played, was the vampire one. But White Wolf writers are GOOD, its another playing field when you got Storytellers telling the story. Mr. Hideo Kojima is another good one, Mr. Hironobu Sakaguchi is another good one. ^_^

They are thinking about making MGS4 a multiplatform, they're afraid that they won't get as many sales off of the PS3 version alone.
