Bored to death... maybe...
Well I went on mscracks.com (dont go there at all or else youll get infected too!) it's the site where I get cracks/registration keys for games and apps... WELL!!! I got infected with super malicouis spyware... good thing I caught it in the middle I was able to bring up task manager and quickly end the processes... anyway I used to know this but how do I check what is on the startup list for windows? I'm not restarting my computer after what happened I know that next time I do there will probably be fucking porn dialers and stupid shit everywhere.... I just finished scanning everything on my computer with adaware but since this happened to another system in the house (it happened somehow not sure what went down I dont use that comp) I'm convinced I didn't get everything.... and woah holy shit major De Ja Vu moment while typing this anyway yes HELP MEH! :P

bothare free. There are other good ones but i have had 99% sucess rate with these. Also what type of av do you have? most do not remove trojans which most of those sites drop on you computer.

dont have any anti virus software and I use Ad Aware... like I said I used it on the other machine and it didn't get everything thats why I'm aftraid to restart my computer I need to edit the startup list...

1) if youre playing the relms of hacks, cracks, and decoders always have an antivirus.

2) Gotta use more then one spyware tool use Adaware, spywareblaster, and spybot search & destroy.
 
im scanning with pest patrol as well (i actually bought this one a while ago) anyone know of any free anti virus software and yes I use megagames.com but mscracks.com has keys for applications megagames is just games... originally I was trying to get a crack or key for nero 7 bah..

goto www.grisoft.com and download AVG free edition install it update it and scan your system you are probably riddled with it and btw it works great for picking up trojans :D .......not those kind of trojans you sick men <_<

trojans are overrated ballons. too much wrapping, it aint christmas. Im a lifestyles man myself
 
Ok here is what I figured out so far I was infected with a few trojans and a boat load of spyware I used pestpatrol and ad aware to get rid of the majority but there were a few startup files that I disabled and were part of the infection they were: winlogon.exe killer.exe sywsvcs.exe mm2.exe mm3.exe mm.exe socks.exe and efsdfgxg.exe they all resided in the C:\Windows\inet20099 also they were all created today at 2:14 PM, exactly one hour later at 3:14 PM they were launched again so there is a one hour timer... I'm not sure if I got them all because winlogon.exe is still in the task manager proccesses so I guess I'll wait till 4:14 PM
 
okay ready to step into the bowels of your PC? most of those get triggered in the run folder in your registry. as long as you know the executables, run regedit then you can navigate to

hkey_current_user\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\run
also

hkey_local_machine\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\run

these folders are read by the computer at startup and starts various apps including some trojans and spyware. This is also a great place to look when your system is moving slow on startup and extra memory is being used like that stupid real player and java scheduler....bleh :huh:

like i said tread carefully in the registry its like walking around dathomir....had to make a swg refrence :P


It's worth a try, btw good call on pest patrol that is also a good program
 
as others have stated there are all sorts my 2 favs are ms anti-spyware and ad-aware both are free. unless you hit a torrent site then you could always pick up pestpatrol or ad-aware full version or spybot full or....... you get the idea ;)
 
As a backup plan I always have two hard drives. I keep all of my files on the second drive and install programs on the first.

When spyware gets to be too much and even programs can't kill them, I can always disconnect my second drive and reformat the first drive.

Then it's just a matter of installing your programs again. Is it a pain, sort of... but it's a good backup plan.
 
just finished virus scanning and I had 30+ trojans wow go this virus program I think im virus free... :)
 
The other machine with the same problem I fixed has 584 viruses, LOL! And at one point had over 1.5k spyware... jesus
