you might want to grab a cup of coffee for this.
Since i have recently read the latest "Stratics Chat" log where Developers(Dev's) from the mmorpg "Star Wars Galaxies" (SWG)i almost felt sick to my stomache thinking about the pattern of events SOE continues to follow, but let's go back to the beginning. Since the launch of SWG, there have been many bugs, ones that if concentrated on, could have been fixed within a reasonable amount of time. The game was not finished upon release, which was SOE's decision. The fans have always been and will always be in my mind the most loyal and respectable bunch ive ever had the honor of playing online with, and against. They were the backbone of the game to begin with. giving ideas, talking to the devs, etc. Then, World of Warcraft (WoW) came out. SOE lost a number of players to the addicting game that swept many people into a world of magic, swords, and priests. Well, not everyone likes that type of gameplay. That's why we played games like SWG, right? well SOE didnt think so. Not much later, SOE announced a "Combat Upgrade" which changed the game into something it possibly couldnt be. More bugs followed. By then SOE had hired new DEV's, which had no idea what they were doing, considering they didnt know the SWG code, and were only to do what the head honchos told them to. Raph Koster was the original man who gave the idea of Ownership in a mmorpg. The ownership was now gone, and when everyone thought it couldnt get worse, it did. The "NGE" (New Game Enhancements) made things even worse to the point where mostly all veterans of the game were disgusted and accounts were cancelled. Jedi was a starting proffesion and meant nothing. The economy crumbled due to the best weapons not being created by players anymore, but being looted off of npc's. No ownership. Now we come over 6 months later and another new change is coming. Inspired by none other than theyre old code, little things are coming back such as targeting and skill branches. Now let me wonder, might it be because a group of guys have been working on an emulator that lets us play the game it was Pre-Combat Upgrade? the team at swgemu have done just that. PreCU and all its glory is coming back, and SOE can't deny it anymore. Just 2 nights ago, the 1st large step was made and a video was released showcasing a player walking around in the Pre-CU world. This might not make it on the 11 o'clock news, but it is definetly big news in the world of mmorpg's. Too bad for you SOE. Should have listened to your paying customers, and good luck with marvel comics online lol you'll need it.
this was my 1st blog i hope ya'll liked it maybe i'll make some more.
