Maguire, WB attack the big screen with 'Robotech'

Ah man that totally sucks. I had hoped for another robotech movie since they did Shadow Chronicles but not a real live action movie I mean come on.

New BSG and Babylon 5 have stolen liberally from Robotech.

The material is there for something good. As is the potential for something crazy and mind blowing. Hopefully, they won't go straight action or neo dark-edgy. Robotech needs the glee, the stupid music, the WWI references and the sudden moments of stark death that reminded you that they were in a fight for their lives.

One of my favorite moments from the show was when Roy Fokker died from wounds, silently on his girlfirend's couch, while she was talking happily about their future together. Corny, but it was a cartoon. These things aren't supposed to happen in cartoons. That's why I loved the show.

That's anime, not simple cartoons. :p

Anime? Like Kimba and Speed Racer?

To Americans growing up in the 80's they were all cartoons. And of all the anime I had seen to that point, it was by far the most sophisticated. For many of us, Robotech changed the game.

So does anyone want to cast this?

How about Tobey McGuire NOT as Rick Hunter? Isn't he supposed to be like 16 years old?

McGuire can play Ben Dixon.

I'll use yer words. Anime is by far more sophisticated, each one has film quality. Unlike American cartoons which are usually created to entertain, anime is usually created to portray a story.

As to Tobey, he fits more in Rick's role than Ben. Although he is not the age, but he seems unexperienced. For Ben is better to use a veteran actor.
