if yall aint heard, PS3 is coming Nov 17, with a price tag of $499 for one w/ a 20 gig HD, and and measly (bullshit) $599 for one with a 60 gig HD. Although Im a huge fan and supporter of playstation, they made the 360/PS3 choice real fucking easy.Xbox here i come!!

REMEMBER PEARL HARBOR!!!! (excpet for Ben Afflecks part.)

consoles are always ludicrious on release, ESPECIALLY if its near xmas release. i dont expect that price to last very long to be honest

consoles are always ludicrious on release, I dont consider $300-$400 ludicrious for a new system on the market. the 360 is in my price range. when you go near the $600 dollar range is when i go "i got better shit to spend it on!"
i dont expect that price to last very long to be honest this i find hard to believe. look at the past consoles and how it was AT LEAST a year before any price drops, and usually its like $100- $150, which any way shape or form still way too expensive, considering the other systems are going to STILL be cheaper

look above unless youre colorblind or something

my point about the price is its release date. whether you agree or not typically consoles do decrease in price after the christmas rush. the 360 wasnt exactly cheap at release either to be fair, not in the UK anyway. i do not know about other countries. will be interesting to see just how much the UK get skanked on pricefor the ps3 though

good point, the UK unfortunatly gets screwed sometimes on things like that. while the price of a 360 might be in my price range, i realize it isnt for alot of people. it a;lso goes down to what each individual is willing to pay

It comes down to what each individual is willing to get for Christmas, regardless of price. People are gonna save an get what they want.

I bought the PS2 a little less than a year after it came out. It cost 400 when it came out, it was 200 when I bought it. There were people selling them for 1000 bucks because you couldn't find it anywhere when it came out. And folks payed that too. So regardless of price is going to sell like hot bread. ;)

The pricing makes complete sense. XBox 360 doesn't offer you shit. All it offers is HD. whoopdeefuckin doo, that doesn't enhance gameplay much. PS3 offers you BlueRay technology. Think back to when DVD Players first came out. they were like $1000. I remember my cousin getting his for $800. Same thing with Blu-Ray. It is an entirely new technology. The majority of the PS3's price is inflated BECAUSE of Blu-Ray. And Sony has done a shitload of a price markdown job to make the PS3 under $1000. Gotta hand it to them, the PS3 has been completed for almost a year. Sony hasn't been working on the PS3 core, it has been working overtime on Blu-Ray to develop newer and more efficient technology for it. Yes, the first gen PS3s are gonna be around $600, but within a year or two, their price should fall by a lot. Either way, its definately worth your money to get a PS3 over a 360. Think of it like this, would you rather have all the games out right now for any console in HD, or would you rather have newer and bigger games with much more content, better graphics, and more extreme gameplay? Remember, Blu-Ray will utilize up to 20GB of space on one disc. The next installment of GTA is going to be announced around December. Would you rather have it be on a DVD-DL in HD, where it would be the same size game as GTA:SA, or would you rather have it on a DVD-BR where it will be twice the size, with better graphics, and tons more content and flexibility? The PS3 is worth the money in the long run

blu-ray is going to fail

People always look for speed and capacity. What better than having 4 Discs of music (MP3s) than 50 :P

People say the same about HD-DVD. As of right now, no game systems are supporting that format. The 360 WILL eventually later this year, but you will have to buy an external drive for it, which will cost somewhere between $500 and $800. BluRay is supported off the bat with the PS3.

Although HD-DVD is backed by Microsoft and Intel, their biggest computer partners, Dell and HP have pleged allegiance to BluRay. Also, Blu-Ray has a larger capacity than HD-DVD. HD-DVD can fit between 15GB-30GB, where Blu-Ray can fit between 25GB-50GB.

Why did Microsoft and Intel side with HD? Pretty much, they said that BluRay was nowhere in sight and that it would not happen. Obviously, we know now that this is not the case.

In the end though, the winner will be decided by the consumer
