more likely that games have just been getting worse and worse as time goes on. It's really pathetic but if you look at the quality of games, it seems recently most companies try to put tons and tons of graphics into a game where as they should concentrate more on gameplay. Don't get me wrong graphics are good, but gameplay gives a game replayability.Consoles are a waste...although I will be forced to buy a ps3 because i've been playing through metal gear sicne I was 12 play Metal Gear solid on PS1. Oh, and I doubt i'll get a PS3 unless they make a FF VII remake on it. It's just not worth the money they want. I don't care how good it looks the majority of games on PS1 and PS2 were crap so I won't spend $500+ on something i'll only get one or two games for.(same reason I never bought an XBox)i cant wait for pro evo on the ps3

FFXII is out, you should check that as soon as it gets to the US. I have the Japanese version, is quite good so far. It has some aspects of FFXI like similar fighting system, and a HUGE MMO type world to explore; so to speak, no more worldmap. The final fantasy series is a good example of that, FF6 and FF7 were in my opinion hte two best RPG's to ever hit the gaming market. Both had steller story lines that kept you glued to your TV for hours at a time. From there on, 8 sucked, it was pointless. There was no point in leveling up anything(including yourself). 9 wasn't bad but needed work, once you got to the third disk you just didn't want to play anymore. Ten finally got really good again(still nowhere near 6 and 7 though). But it had a compelling story line. Of course nothing like when Aeries dies in FF7, nearly every FF7 player I know of either cried or pouted about that for weeks.... then got pissed off and threw stuff(because the game had you that hooked onto the players) Maybe not that bad, but still people loved the characters, and when one died it was like part of you died. Anyway..... then there was FF-X2....... for the love of all things holy what the hell were they thinking when they made that game. Like seriously? FFX was a great game, so great that they figured it would be the first of any Final Fantasy game to every have a sequel, then they completely change the gameplay and turn it into a girly cross dresser's game. Ooooo, we need a healer, let me put on my healer cap..... wait, now i need to do damage again better put on the skimpy skirt. Like honestly I think the creators of FFX2 were on crack the entire time they were designing that garbage.
I kinda like your view on the FF Series. I loved FF8, the love story within was the most interesting part. FF9 was too deep for easy comprehension, they make it with a lot of tooltips and pieces that made it look for children, but the value of the storyline far exceeds that. Once you reach the end, you understand that the main storyline was just a side story to explain a point. Kind of like Hideo Kojima has been making with Metal Gear Series. Another game of the FF Series, that I love, and I think it was the BEST of them all is Final Fantasy Tactics. The intrigue and depth in the storyline just kept me playing, I just couldn't stop. I even took a week off work to play it. It was good. Also, look at Advent Children, I think is a good touch to bring those characters alive once more.
Ok, I'm getting off track here. Simply put games today just arn't as enjoyable as they were a few years ago. It's like developers have lost all insight into what makes a good game. Of course some gem's like Knights of the Old Republic come along once in a while, but the majority of games just suck compared to older games.(Zelda Majora's mask and Wind waker come to mind as crappy games in a long line of super amazing games)

As for the PS3, they are gonna do a sequel to FF7 and Advent Children, I'll keep ya posted.![]()

From what i've read, they arn't sure if they will make a FF VII remake for the PS3. There is a lot of interest from fans which made them say they are thinking about it but I havn't seen any press release saying they will do it for sure yet.(I really hope they do). As for final fantasy tactics, I just got that one a while ago, havn't had time to sit down and play it yet. Final Fantasy Advant Children ruled, I bought it release day and have seen it like 6/7 times already.... not to mention the ammount of times I saw it in the sub'd japanese versionFFXII is out, you should check that as soon as it gets to the US. If you like intrigue and heroic stories, try out Suikoden series. The first two games have crappy graphics, but the Storylines are GOOD. They have Vols. 1 - 5 and a Tactics game. They all revolve in the same world, some characters come out in several of the games. You see them again. The stories are linked together. Is like a small universe, just like Star Wars.
Another good one is Wild Arms. They have 4 games, a remake of the first game, and an anime series. They are different stories. But just like the FF series, it has similar names of places, summons, items, and some characters. They are like wild west kind of stories. Treasure Hunters, drifters, dreamers, guns, swords, magic, robots, etc...

The limitations were off in FF8. You could level up to 100. Renzokouken + Lionheart limit break for Squall did close to 60,000 dmg at it's best, counting there were about 20 attacks from Renzo and 10 from Lionheart. Quistis strongest limit break did around 12,000. Zell's final Heaven did around 30,000 (just the final blow, not counting the other attacks). And then The girl in Yellow (forget her name), instant death limit break. No matter if it's a boss or your normal enemy it dies on the spot. From the summons, having maximum compatibility and having it at maximum level and most summons, with the exception of shiva and Ifrit, did about 22,000 dmg. Eden summon was instant death, with the exception of the ultimate set of bosses. You could collect items for up to 255 items per stack instead of 99. (I certainly don't remember the limitations of FF9)From what i've read, they arn't sure if they will make a FF VII remake for the PS3. Final Fantasy 8 did have an intriguing story line. But my problem with it was the game system. It royally sucked. Made you want to throw controllers. There really was no point to leveling up anything(weapons, character levels etc) I think i played through the entire game once without leveling up any weapons, and then i went on to beat the end boss at level 69 or so. And it was WAY easier then the first time I went throiugh the game where I tried to level up everything as much as I could and went into hte end boss fight at level 99.
I did like the opne endedness of 10, because you weren't limited to the regular FF limitations(9999 HP and Damage etc) I havn't played 12 yet but am eagerly awaiting it's release in english. I did play a little of FF XI, and it was good, but I couldn't get into it because I was hooked on SWG at the time. But I still think VII and VI were the best two FF games. I'll have to go play tactics all the way through now, as soon as I have a little time(wanted to start playing VII again lol, but my game disks dissapeared :lightsaber:
Anyway, that's kinda my view on the series. And yes, IX was good but the story was so deep that it just got boring after a while.
To close I think they should do a remake of both VI and VII. Both of those games were absolutely amazing, and I can guarentee that they would sell like hotcakes. Both because there are tons of fans of those two games... and because if they redid them with better graphics a lot of young kids who wouldn't have ever played it would give it a try(and probably like them)

Yup, I own FF Chronicles and FF Anthology, but not all the FMV's are new, only a few of themThe limitations were off in FF8. You could level up to 100. In FFX, you had 255 item limit per stack. I certainly don't remember dmgs on this one. I played FF8 recently, that's why I remember it so vividly.
There was a remake for the older games with new FMVs. The anthologies, which had FF6 and FF5. Chronicles, which had FF4 and Chrono Trigger (which is also an awesome RPG).
