I am looking to buy a GPS for when I go 4-wheeling so I don't get lost. Anyone have any suggestions ?

My requirements are:

Nothing over $400
Portable
Somewhat rugged
Ability to Add waypoints, ect on the PC and upload to the GPS
Ability to set a start point and go and it will automaticly create a trail (in case I get lost)

I have been looking at the Magellan models but I am not sold on a brand yet

Ocrim Ocrim....are we lost?

Yes..I am hoping with the GPS I will find my way home...

if they had a model that allowed someone to /follow, that would be great to. Much easier than stoping and waiting for my son to catch up on his.

No one has any opinions ?

Buy a map, compass and waterproof ink pen. Can't go wrong with that and no batteries! ;)

I plan to bring a compass either way, but the Ocala National forest is quite big and I would prefer not to have to push my way out with kid and his ATV in tow

I will be getting the 12mile "walkie talkie" for our trip. But telling someone I made a couple lefts and rights would probably get them lost as well.

Tom Tom would be nice, but it's mostly for Europe from what i saw :( Would be nice just carrying a cell phone that does it all. Looks like the Magellan Explorist 500 it is.

So they are waypoints now? What's next a laser beam pointing to the exact location?
[/b]
No, high-frequency low powered radio signals pointing to the exact location. How GPS works.
