Expanded Universe books

So who is reading the EU Star Wars books?
I'm really behind on mine but I read most of them eventually.

I'm currently reading The Joiner King and its really good so far.
Anyone read The Ruins of Dantooine? The one based on SWG. Slow read to start but interesting for a SWG fan. Of course its all out of date now. <_<

The New Jedi Order was a real gripping series. Long too. B)

Please no spoilers into book endings for people.

The X-wing series are great! :D Especially if you are an old XW or XWA player. They even recreate a mission from the game as a training program. B)
Hmm I could list my books but it may take too long.

is there an EU book thats about the kotor toons?
[/b]
No but theres the Dark Horse KOTOR comics. That started it all off before the games.
Then the Jedi Academy books talk about some characters in the comics.

I'm still trying to finish a lot of Clone War books but most aren't too good.

there is a TON of really bad star wars fiction out there and I mean bad... and these people get paid to do it *sigh*

The New Jedi Order series spanned roughly 25 or so books over a 5 yr period and IMO was and is some the best EU fluff you can get your hands on. I'm still not sold on the post NJO series...the Joiner King stuff, but we'll have to wait and see. I've read just about all of the EU books from Shadows of the Empire all the way to current with a few exceptions.

The DH comics are also fantastic......the KOTOR one just started last week and the first issue wasn't too bad. I recommend the "Republic" series which is my current fav.....DH is really mixing it up this year supposedly doing away with some of the older longer running SW series bringing out some new titles and "re-mixing" some of the old....like SW Tales. Should be a good year for SW EU....

....and some of the Clone War era books weren't bad at all. Even the Rebulic Commando book, Hard Contact, IMO was quite entertaining and worth while if you've got the time.

Was it really 5 years? Geez.

Republic has been the highlight of the comics for me too. Really good reads from AotC until RotS. Not been wowed by Empire yet.

Republic Commando was a slow start but got better. Good game while it lasted too. There's supposed to be another book coming out soon I think. B)

Outbound Flight, by Timothy Zahn just was released on the 31st... his books are excellent...

Stay away from Children of the Jedi... there's a handful of others, but this one sticks out in my mind the most.

desperatly awaiting my copy of OF.... heard many different reviews of it on the force.net forums but over all it sounds good. I wasn't so impressed by Survivor's Quest but then I am not into whiny mara and her stupid husband who is also whiny.

How did you like NJO? The entire concept is ridiculous. (super small spoiler) You can't progress to a level of bioengineering without using technology to get there.

Oh, and R.A. Salvatore (who started it) writes like a fucking eight year old.
