EMU anyone??

Whats up all im an old wanderhome guy and i've recognized a few names and a few guilds mentioned all over the forums...what im wondering is how many of you are gonna play the EMU?? I loved wanderhome and all the people there and i was thinking it would be tight if all of us "wanderhomies" who are gonna play the EMU get on the same server together...maybe its a stupid idea...but im curious to see what everyone thinks...

A bunch of us are watching and waiting to see how it all works out. I still think it's a bit early to set anything in stone as far as what servers people are going to.
 
Well from the way it looks right now the EMU is not far very far off...but i dont think its unrealistic to start planning something if its something that a lot of people are interested in...plus i've noticed that a lot of people still really dont know that the EMU exists...i miss pre-cu and i miss everyone on the server...im just really excited that it may be possible to get all that back...im being optimistic i guess

What about those servers that wont play by the rules? Those that will create a PvP haven instead of it's original sandbox?

I dont think Im gonna bust my ass to grind a toon, put all kinds of work into it, when I know some guy with a power trip can kick me out because he doesnt like me. The "devs" show an immature control streak on the forums and I doubt they will be much better in game. I doubt the EMU will be a fair game without a corporation backing it. As much as we all hate SOE they do keep some lvl of fairness.

I don't want to be a part of that world then. There is no game without the grind. Is like using cheat codes, the game will get old sooner than you think and it will die out eventually.
 
day one any dev with half an ego will be jedi with every stat they can think of if not godmode just because its their game and they can. Then by the time u grind out your toon ... you step on the wrong toe and poof everything you have done is gone... because its their game and they can. I hope its not this way and people can have fun but you have to consider these things when their is no one to enforce rules. Digitalmessiah had some issues with a dev on the emu forums. Guy refered to himself as the forum Nazi and was banning people from the forums. Not the kind of dev to a game ill put my time into.

Yeah the Developer named Ultyma is a real prick. The rest of the Emu devs are pretty cool people. Honestly though once the emu if finished the developers can you all they want from the Emu forums... by then you will have moved on to a server forums and be playing the game. :P
 
my comments about the forum was just pointing out that basically they can do whatever they want without cause. They can go game nazi all they want as well and ban you from game for looking at them funny and theres nothing you can do. Ya its free but you lose all the work you've done.
 
Not to be contrary, because I totally agree with tyrannical gamer geek syndrome being likely to appear in EMU devs/GMs, but there could be a positive to it in that they wouldn't be scared shitless to ban someone because they're scared of losing a precious subscription.

Im just stateing why I wont be playing. I know slot of people didnt think about it that way. I didnt untill Digitalmessiah pointed me to the forums and I saw what was going on. More power to those who want to play but its just something to keep an eye out for.
 
There will be servers run by respectable and level-headed people.

There will also be servers run by asholes.

I wouldn't play on the EMU Dev's server though, cause they are crazy enough to turn it off when they get their panties all in a bunch.
 
Fuck all that. I can be found on any given night in the Mos Eisley cantina, on the galaxy most of you all left behind.

True, and it will be a case of survival of the fittest. If your server management sucks then people will quit and move somewhere else.

In the end the servers with the most people (therefore more fun to be on imo) will have good management.

This is very premature. Yes, combat is shaping up nicely, but they haven't really started on crafting, housing, or the bazaar. So it's still going to be a while.
 
I'm not sure if the bazaar is done, but I know vendors are done considering they have a movie about it, and that leads me to believe that the bazaar is done as well. Also the devs were thinking about releasing full combat during the stress test, but they released partial, so I'm pretty sure they've got the combat down. I think they need crafting and housing and such to be finished, and like Ramsey said it will be done in 2007 and will probably be done in the next 4 months.

But like someone else said, people will not play on servers that are ran by powertripped little kids, and you can see at www.truegalaxies.com they have great management, and thats why I'm going to play there.

Perhaps.

My whole point is they have some pretty big hurdles left.
