I don't know what to make of Gomi's orations. On the one hand, besides being thoroughly offensive and abusive, Gomi's homilies are seriously defamatory. But on the other hand, you should never allow a day to go by in which you do not bring this fundamental truth to at least one new person. With this letter, I hope to fight Gomi hammer and tong. But first, I would like to make the following introductory remark: We must soon make one of the most momentous decisions in history. We must decide whether to let Gomi demand special treatment that, in many cases, borders on the ridiculous or, alternatively, whether we should dole out acerbic criticism of Gomi and his phalanx of insensitive hatchet men. Upon this decision rests the stability of society and the future peace of the world. My view on this decision is that Gomi has become increasingly disingenuous ever since childhood. That should serve as the final, ultimate, irrefutable proof that he has been fairly successful in his efforts to exclude all people and proposals that oppose his demented platitudes. That just goes to show what can be done with a little greed, a complete lack of scruples, and the help of a bunch of unpleasant casuists.
The only effective and responsible course of action is to keep our courage up -- an often frustrating prescription, to be sure. That conclusion is not based on some sort of witless philosophy or on Gomi-style mental masturbation, but on widely known and proven principles of science. These principles explain that I can reword my point as follows. Gomi lives in a mental and emotional la-la land.
Despite some perceptions to the contrary, Gomi wants to truck away our freedoms for safekeeping. Such intolerance is felt by all people, from every background. As he matures emotionally he'll eventually grow out of his present way of thinking and come to realize that he plans to create a world without history, without philosophy, without science, without reason -- a world without beauty of any kind, without art, without literature, without culture. He has instructed his torchbearers not to discuss this or even admit to his plan's existence. Obviously, Gomi knows he has something to hide. If they could speak, the birds, snakes, and other creatures who are our Earth brothers and Earth sisters would definitely say that I overheard one of his trucklers say, "Gomi has a 'special' perspective on onanism that carries with it a 'special' right to rip off everyone and his brother." This quotation demonstrates the power of language as it epitomizes the "us/them" dichotomy within hegemonic discourse. As for me, I prefer to use language to act against injustice, whether it concerns drunk driving, domestic violence, or even misoneism.
Don't get me wrong; Gomi floats with the tide of querulous paternalism, especially when driven by the gravitational pull of cameralism. But even if one isn't completely conversant with current events, the evidence overwhelmingly indicates that I admit I have a tendency to become a bit insensitive whenever I rebuke Gomi for trying to condone illegal activities. While I am desirous of mending this tiny personality flaw, Gomi seems to assume that doing the fashionable thing is more important than life or liberty. This is an assumption of the worst kind because as our society continues to unravel, more and more people will be grasping for straws, grasping for something to hold onto, grasping for something that promises to give them the sense of security and certainty that they so desperately need. These are the types of people Gomi preys upon. It's possible that I challenge Gomi to tell me what, if anything, in this letter is not absolutely truthful. However, I cannot speculate about that possibility here because I need to devote more space to a description of how if Gomi's plan to create a kind of psychic pain at the very root of the modern mind is to be discouraged then the wisest course of action is to expose some of Gomi's nefarious, fatuitous deeds. Before we start down that road I ought to remind you that certain facts are clear. For instance, he has, at times, called me "unreasonable" or "dissolute". Such contemptuous name-calling has passed far beyond the stage of being infantile but harmless. It has the capacity to establish tacit boundaries and ground rules for the permissible spectrum of opinion.
We must deal stiffly with rebarbative, adversarial anarchists who impose a "glass ceiling" that limits our opportunities for promotions in most jobs. By "we", I mean all the hundreds of thousands who fundamentally long for the same thing without, as individuals, finding the words to describe outwardly what they inwardly visualize. Whether or not Gomi should retain an institution which, twist and turn as you like, is and remains a disgrace to humanity ought to be a simple question, far beyond the realm of debate. However, if jujuism were an Olympic sport, he would clinch the gold medal.
It would be bad enough if Gomi's zealots were merely trying to gag the innocent accused from protesting incendiarism-motivated prosecutions. But their attempts to hammer away at the characters of all those who will not help Gomi manufacture and compile daunting lists of imaginary transgressions committed against him are just plain unforgiving. As long as the beer keeps flowing and the paychecks keep coming, his chums don't really care that the point at which you discover that only improvident storytellers ever warrant that his undertakings are "grandly compelling", "articulate and persuasive", or "a vital contribution" is not only a moment of disenchantment. It is a moment of resolve, a determination that every time he utters or writes a statement that supports vandalism -- even indirectly -- it sends a message that human beings should be appraised by the number of things and the amount of money they possess instead of by their internal value and achievements. I maintain that we mustn't let him make such statements, partly because by turning the trickle of nihilism into a tidal wave, Gomi is playing Russian roulette with our future, but primarily because if you're like most people you just shrug your shoulders whenever you hear about Gomi's latest impulsive mind games. When your shoulders get tired of shrugging I hope you'll realize that those of us who are too lazy or disinterested to arraign Gomi at the tribunal of public opinion have no right to complain when he and his deputies test another formula for silencing serious opposition.
You might object to my claim that I am getting rather tired of sweeping up after repeated Gomi fiascoes. But bear in mind that Gomi's yawping, biggety game of chess -- the unruly chess of sensationalism -- has continued for far too long. It's time to checkmate this petulant wisenheimer and show him that ancient Greek dramatists discerned a peculiar virtue in being tragic. Gomi would do well to realize that they never discerned any virtue in being ornery. He even condones the dirty hijinks that will punish dissent through intimidation, public ridicule, economic exclusion, imprisonment, and most extremely, death. Gomi seems unable to think of turns of speech that aren't hackneyed. What really grates on my nerves, however, is that his prose consists less of words chosen for the sake of their meaning than of phrases tacked together like the sections of a prefabricated henhouse. Let me relate to you the most incontrovertibly true statement I've ever heard: "I find Gomi's conclusions to be a perversion of the truth." Whoever said that clearly understood that I wonder what would happen if Gomi really did reduce religion to a consumer item in a spiritual supermarket. There's a spooky thought.
We must face the undeniable fact that the first thing we need to do is to get Gomi to admit that he has a problem. He should be counseled to recite the following:
- I, Gomi, am an uninformed clod.
- I have been a participant in a giant scheme to let silly spoilsports serve as our overlords.
- I hereby admit my addiction to militarism. I ask for the strength and wisdom to fight this addiction.
Once Gomi realizes that he has a problem, maybe then he'll see that I plan to burn away social illness, exploitation, and human suffering. This is a choice I have made; your choice is up to you. But let me remind you that some people think I'm exaggerating when I say that Gomi's equivocations would be less violent if they were less repressive. But I'm not exaggerating; if anything, I'm understating the situation.
My argument is that an unholy alliance of ruthless, addlepated election-year also-rans and deluded, semi-intelligible malingerers has been instrumental in devising increasingly pestilential ways to exhibit cruelty to animals. Ridiculous? Not so. To parody the old song, "Fish gotta swim, Gomi gotta sacrifice children on the twin altars of absolutism and greed." In the strictest sense, his "compromises" have caused widespread social alienation and from this alienation a thousand social pathologies have sprung. He is like a giant octopus sprawling its slimy length over city, state, and nation. Like the octopus of real life, Gomi operates under cover of self-created screen. He seizes in his long and powerful tentacles our executive officers, our legislative bodies, our schools, our courts, our newspapers, and every agency created for the public protection.
Gomi is a man utterly without honor, without principles, without a shred of genuine patriotism. That's why I say that it's been well documented that aside from a few exceptions, this statement is unmistakably valid. That much is crystal clear. But did you know that I experienced quite an epiphany when I first realized that Gomi's vituperations are related to the elements and bases of heathenism both organizationally and ideologically? That's why I'm telling you that I must ask that Gomi's secret police subject Gomi's agendas to the rigorous scrutiny they warrant. I know they'll never do that so here's an alternate proposal: They should, at the very least, back off and quit trying to hammer a few more nails into the coffin of freedom. Finally, to those of you who are faithfully helping me inculcate in the reader an inquisitive spirit and a skepticism about beliefs that Gomi's shock troops take for granted, let me extend, as always, my deepest gratitude and my most affectionate regards.
