Here in philadelphia we have a long and storied christmas pass. Originally beign a german and swedish city christmas has been an important part of the city for as long as its existence. Recently thoguh in the past hundred years we have several traditions that are as philly as cheesesteaks and hoagies.

Two of these are the thanksgiving day parade ( the first in the nation started by gimbles department store ). Santa wa s first broguht in by the parade to usher in the holiday season here ingoold ole philly. every year he would ride in on his sleigh form the art museum all the way to the gimbles department store window where the fire company would then extend a ladder 5 stories and he would carriyng a large bag of gifts climb intot he toy department window. This started 100 years ago and still happnens today.

The second is one that s much more of a cherished memory. It s the wannakers christmas light show. Every year in the gallery of wannamakers dept store (famous for the movie manequin) a huge light show with amazing organ music shines in the festive season. Day after day thousands of tourists coem by to see the show. For those tha t arnt lucky enough to live here here is a link to some pics its really a great sight and if you ever ge tthe chance coem by and see it.

Very small city in Southwest Virginia (4,000 population.. and its a city)

Remind me to roll out and take some photos of the "ticky tacky house" before Christmas. Typical suburban waste of electricity. Times six billion. This place is insane with Christmas decorations.

Whenever a Crip dies the church near me has a funeral, and at night at 12am you hear gunshots for a full 30 seconds.

Not really a holiday, just seems to happen around this time alot... Poor tookie :(

I live in a rich town in Connecticut. (which is fun cuz I'm poor - I hate rent)

Every holiday, regardless of what time of year includes:

A parade that goes by my apartment complex. It's beautiful, but usually happens when I'm driving home from visiting my mother.

Fireworks. Again beautiful but usually ends like 5 minutes before I'm driving home.

The entire town is decorated. That part I love. Everything around us is cold, snowy, but the lights are blazing and people are happy. (yeah I know that was a run-on, so sue me.)
