I'm not surprised.
I actually don't believe that the EULAs would hold up in court, none have yet, but I can understand E-Bay wanting to avoid the issue.
Besides SOE though other corps do sell things.
For example CCP allows you to buy GTC with real life money, then you can trade them to other players for isks, perfectly legal if you follow their rules. You can also sell characters if you follow their rules.
