I finally gave in to the fact that my Verizon AirCard just doesn't get good enough reception for me to log into SWG at work and decided to start reading the SW books (I know, too little too late). So I started reading Cloak of Deception which is suppposedly one of the first in chronological terms. Who do you all think wrote the best SW books/series and is it worth trying to read them in chronological order?

ahhhhhhhh books.

this might help with chronological order.
I just finished the entire NJO - it's hit and miss but a decent summer read!
Zahn is a decent authour read the books in chronological order not published order.
Stackpole bores the crap out of me but he writes amazing space battles ( I am struggling with the x-wing series)
I read most of the bantam ones but years ago and i don't remember them ( says much dunnit)
anything by James Lucerno drives me insane.. I hate his style but again others rave over him.
Problems with some of the older books now is the RetCon shit that's been happening and a lot of older stories are a little out of whack with canon due to the new movies.
*sigh* I have done far too much reading and research on this subject because I am writing a fan fic and wanted to take care with the time line and canaon... and... you would not believe all the inconsistancies...
Nathan Butler has an extensive time line complete with synopsys ( spelling I know sorry) of every comic, story etc that#s outthere to give you a better idea of what you might want to read first...

To answer you.... I like the idea of chronological reading.... good luck with that
and I always tell people to read Zahn's books first.
